Obesity is a growing global trend and not just in richer countries. According to the medical journal, the Lancet, one in 5 men and more than one in 6 women in India are overweight.
Weight loss surgeons at the Max Institute in New Delhi are carrying out three times as many operations as they did five years ago.
Last year they performed 400 operations, including gastric bypasses and complicated procedures such as a sleeve gastrectomy, for the more seriously obese.
