Rockhopper TV has dominated the BBC World viewers’ choice of Documentary of the Year for 2006. “Being Indian” (1st) and “Kill or Cure?: Sleeping Sickness” (3rd) jointly polled 34% of the vote.
“Being Indian” told the story of Biru, a Dalit boy living in India, and his struggle get an eduction and make a living in a society that excludes his cast.
“Kill or Cure?” featured the hunt for a drug to treat Sleeping Sickness in the DRC, where the most commonly used drug can kill 1 in 20 patients. Untreated, disease is always fatal.
