Bihar is one of the poorest states in India, where girls as young as 11 are forced into marriages with much older men.  With no education the girls have little chance of escaping these situations. Survivor’s Guide follows Sharmila, 25 years old and a dallit, the lowest caste, who has managed to empower herself by attending the Mahila Samakhya school, where she learned to read and write along with other skills.
